BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Hello Fashionistas,

With Black History month being February I wanted to start a new series post that celebrates Black culture and those who have made an impact in the Black community old and new. I don't talk a lot about my culture or how proud I am to be African American, yes I'm mixed and love every ethnicity that's deep in the roots of my DNA, but I seek to share my love, support, respect and the way I'm embracing it as well. There will be awards given to those I believe have made a significant impact on the issues that people from the Black community face such as police brutality, equal rights and government representation. I also want to talk about the movies that are signature films that are forever a staple all black families watch and have in their movie collections of black films.

BLACK FILMS ALL BACK FAMILIES OWN

                                                         FRIDAY MOVIE SERIES

These Ice Cube classics are a must in a Black household and represent what some issues we  may face when living in the gehtto.

This was one of my favorite's Janet Jackson and Tupac were amazing in this film.

Anything with Ice Cube in it will be an amazing film

This was one of my favroites as well, I'm an 80's baby and was born in 1988 so this is my generation reminding all 80's babies what we were all about.

This is hands down an iconic black film and Wesley Snipes was amazing in it and so was Ice T.

It's crazy to see both Nas and DMX in this film because they are such iconic rap artists.

Denzel Washington is also an iconic black actor that hands down makes the best films.

this film was impactful because the entire cast was African American and majority of the writers were Black as well. Movie goers were seen dressing up in African American clothing to go see the film, everyone showed out in their costumes and Ankra style outfits. This film was a masterpiece and I am greatful to have finally been able to see an all Black cast in a black super hero film.

For the culture award goes to...Cynthia Ervio
She plays Harriet in the modern Harriet Tubman film and has a song called "stand up" on the films soundtrack that she performed live on the 2020 Oscar award show.
